Your child’s name
Type your child’s first name and Dinomon will greet them with “Hello, name!” right on top of Dinomon on the home screen. The name is saved on this device only.
Learning level — choose the age
Choose the school level — your choice is saved on this device, together with mission progress, so the next visit on this iPad or tablet picks up where you left off. It changes what every topic teaches and which game it plays — Prep is the Foundation year, then Year 1 and Year 2 follow the Australian Curriculum V9 / Victorian Curriculum 2.0.
Gentle practice across Prep, Year 1 and Year 2 (choose the level at the top of this panel), in short 5–10 minute sessions. No timers, no lives, no leaderboards, and no way to fail — a wrong tap just brings a hint and another try.

Dinomon Club — new games every week
Dinomon Club Coming soon
A subscription for families who want Dinomon to keep growing with their child — built around one simple promise: something new to play every week.
A new game pack every week. Fresh games for Letters, Counting, Colours, Shapes and Story Time arrive automatically — Dinomon already checks for the weekly pack each time it opens, so new Club games simply appear in the game picker with a “★ New this week” tag. No downloads, no updates to install.
New letters, words and seasonal packs through the year — extra phonics sets, holiday and Book Week specials, and packs that follow what your child is learning at school.
A progress summary for parents: which topics your child has finished, which stickers they have won, and what is coming next — in this Grown-ups panel.
Same gentle rules: no timers, no lives, no way to fail, and the same recorded voice reading everything aloud.
Dinomon Club isn’t open yet — this button is a placeholder while we finish it. No sign-up or payment happens here, and nothing in Dinomon is locked: every game on this page stays free and fully unlocked, Club or not. Club will only ever add the new weekly extras on top.
How the levels work
Standard means the end-of-Foundation expectations in the Australian Curriculum V9 and the Victorian Curriculum 2.0 — what Prep itself teaches across the year, not what a child needs on day one. Challenge is a gentle stretch into early Year 1 ideas, always optional, always with support and hands-on materials — never speed, mastery or writing pressure.
Level 1 · Weeks 1–2Starting Out — first sounds and letters, counting to 5, first colours, shapes and stories.
Level 2 · Weeks 3–4Building — blending first words, counting to 10, sorting, clapping syllables.
Level 3 · Weeks 5–6Growing Strong — reading little captions, counting to 20, rhymes, retelling a story.
Level 4 · Weeks 7–8Confident — digraphs like sh and ch, adding and sharing to 10, patterns, story problems.
Level 5 · Weeks 9–10Dinomon Challenge (optional) — stretch games for children who are ready and keen. Never required to finish.
What each module teaches
Letters ABC Standard+ Challenge
Basis: Australian Curriculum V9 & Victorian Curriculum 2.0 Foundation English, taught in the Victorian Phonics Plus order — not A–Z.
Order: Set 1 s t a p n i · Set 2 m d g o c f · Set 3 k e r u · Set 4 b h l · Set 5 j w v · Set 6 y z · Set 7 x qu — so children can build real words like sat and tap straight away.
Standard: letter names and their most common sounds, matching big and little letters, blending and spelling CVC words (cat, pig, sun).
Challenge: digraphs (ck, th, wh, ch, sh, ng) and double letters, CCVC/CVCC words (stop, help), reading a simple decodable sentence, writing one sentence with a capital letter and a full stop.
Heart words (like said, was, the): children sound out the regular parts and learn only the tricky part by heart — never whole-word shape memorising.
Basis: Australian Curriculum V9 & Victorian Curriculum 2.0 Foundation Mathematics.
Order: seeing and counting 0–5, then 0–10 shown four ways (numeral, word, dots, objects), then 11–20 as “10 and more”, ordering and comparing, number bonds to 10, adding and taking away in stories, and fair sharing.
Standard: count, name and order to at least 20, spot up to 5 objects without counting (subitising), combine and split numbers to 10, practical adding, taking away and sharing to 10.
Challenge: quantities to 30, chanting to 100, counting by 10s (2s and 5s as patterns), building numbers from tens and ones to 30, counting on within 20, one-step word problems, doubles to 10, and halving as fair sharing between 2 — no fraction symbols.
Games: Flash-and-Tap · Share the Snacks Fairly · Dinomon’s Number Track
Colours Sorting & words
Basis: colour names are not a named Foundation curriculum outcome — this is honestly a sorting and vocabulary module. Colour is a sorting feature in Victorian Curriculum 2.0 Foundation Mathematics.
Standard: name common colours and sort objects by colour.
Challenge: sort by two things at once (colour and shape or size), light and dark shades, and mixing colours in play (red + yellow makes orange).
Games: Colour Hunt · Mixing Pot · Dress Dinomon
Shapes Standard+ Challenge
Basis: Australian Curriculum V9 & Victorian Curriculum 2.0 Foundation Mathematics (space and measurement).
Standard: name, sort and find circle, square, triangle and rectangle; position words like on, under, next to and behind.
Challenge: pentagon, hexagon and oval; counting sides and corners; shapes stay the same when turned; naming 3D objects in the world (cube, sphere, cylinder, cone); AB patterns growing to ABB, AAB and ABC, spotting the missing piece; ordering 3 objects by length; telling o’clock times as an introduction only.
Games: Shape Sorter Truck · Where is Dinomon? · Build a Picture
Stories Standard+ Challenge
Basis: Australian Curriculum V9 & Victorian Curriculum 2.0 Foundation English (reading and listening).
Standard: retell 1–2 events, talk about the cover, title, author and illustrator, follow reading left to right, guess what happens next and connect the story to their own life.
Challenge: put 3–4 events in order (first, next, then, last), beginning/middle/end, the problem and how it was fixed, working out how a character feels and why from a clue, and retelling without the pictures.
Every story asks exactly 3 questions: one tap-the-answer question, one ordering or feelings question, and one “has this happened to you?” question.
Games: Story Player · Put the Story in Order · How Does Dinomon Feel?
Year 1 — what the band teaches
Basis: Australian Curriculum V9 & Victorian Curriculum 2.0 Year 1, with phonics in the Victorian Phonics Plus order (Sets 14–26 after a review of Foundation Sets 11–13).
Year 1 summary Curriculum
Letters: long vowels ai/ay, ee/ea, oa/ow and split digraphs a-e, e-e, i-e, o-e (Phonics Plus Sets 14–17, 23), r-controlled ar/or and er/ir/ur, blends at both ends of words (AC9E1LY09–13). Game: Split-e Switch.
Numbers: count, order and build numbers to at least 120, tens and ones, add and subtract within 20, equal grouping and fair sharing, skip counting in 2s, 5s and 10s (AC9M1N01–06, AC9M1A01). Game: Tens and Ones Builder.
Shapes: classify shapes by features, measure with uniform informal units end-to-end, give and follow directions (AC9M1SP01–02, AC9M1M01–02). Game: Move Dino Home.
Stories: predict, visualise, connect, summarise and question; retell familiar stories (AC9E1LY05, AC9E1LE05). Game: Predict and Peek.
ColoursEnrichment colour names are not a Year 1 curriculum outcome — here colour is a vehicle for describing words (adjectives, AC9E1LA07), repeating patterns (AC9M1A02) and sorting data (AC9M1ST01–02). Game: Colour Pattern Maker.
Deliberately NOT in Year 1: multiplication or division symbols, fraction notation or halves as a fraction outcome (halving appears only as fair sharing), and analogue clock reading — none of these are Year 1 requirements in Curriculum V9.
Year 2 — what the band teaches
Basis: Australian Curriculum V9 & Victorian Curriculum 2.0 Year 2. Phonics uses confirmed Phonics Plus Year 2 content from Set 29 on (silent letters, ear/air families, spelling rules). Sets 27–28 word lists are not used: published reproductions of the official scope disagree on their exact graphemes.
Year 2 summary Curriculum
Letters: silent letters kn/gn, wr, mb (Sets 32, 34), ear/eer and air/are families (Sets 29–30), ch as /k/ and /sh/ (Set 31), prefixes and suffixes with the drop-e, doubling and y-to-i rules (AC9E2LY10–12). Game: Silent Letter Spotter.
Numbers: numbers to at least 1000, two-digit addition and subtraction with mental strategies, first multiplication and division through repeated addition, arrays and grouping (AC9M2N01–06) — and recall of twos facts only (AC9M2A03). Halves, quarters and eighths through repeated halving (AC9M2N03). Game: Array Arcade.
Shapes: classify by number of sides and words like opposite, parallel, curved, straight; quarter, half and full turns; positions on simple maps (AC9M2SP01–02, AC9M2M05); analogue clock to the hour, half-hour and quarter-hour (AC9M2M04). Game: Map Explorer.
Stories: all the Year 1 strategies plus monitoring — noticing when something does not make sense and fixing it; literal and inferred meaning (AC9E2LY04–05). Game: Inference Detective.
ColoursEnrichment colour is a vehicle for noun groups with adjectives (AC9E2LA07), growing patterns (AC9M2A01) and comparing data displays (AC9M2ST01–02). Game: Pattern Rule Finder.
Deliberately NOT in Year 2: times tables beyond the twos, column (vertical) algorithms, metric units like centimetres, odd/even investigations, and time to the minute — all of these are Year 3 or later in Curriculum V9.
Getting ready for Prep in Victoria
In Victoria, a child turns 5 by 30 April in the year they start Prep, and school is compulsory from age 6. There is no entry test, and there is no requirement to read, write or count to 20 before starting — those are things Prep itself teaches. This checklist is helpful, not required:
Self-care: uses the toilet and washes hands, opens their lunchbox and drink bottle, packs their bag, recognises their own name on belongings.
Language & listening: speaks in sentences others can understand, asks and answers questions, follows a 2-step instruction, listens to a short story and says something about it.
Social & emotional: plays with other children, takes turns with a little prompting, names basic feelings, and settles after a disappointment with adult support.
Thinking (helpful only): stays with an activity for about 10 minutes, counts a small group of objects touching each one, notices some colours, shapes, letters and rhymes.
Physical: runs, jumps and climbs; holds a pencil or crayon and draws; is learning to use scissors.
If anything worries you, an early chat with your kinder teacher, GP or maternal and child health nurse is the right next step — well before Prep starts.
Deliberately left out of Prep (they belong to the Year 1 and Year 2 bands above, or to Year 3+): long vowel teams and split digraphs, silent-letter lists, big sight-word lists, cursive, grammar labels, timed reading or maths, column addition, multiplication/division symbols, fraction notation, rulers and formal units, and half-past clock reading.
All soundsPops, music and Dinomon’s cheers
Background musicA gentle tune on the home screen
Speaking voiceOn — Dinomon reads everything aloud for children who can’t read yet
About the voice: Dinomon speaks with a recorded young voice — every line Dinomon says is a real audio clip in that one voice, so it sounds natural and the same on every device. Voice is on by default because Prep children are pre-readers: Dinomon reads every label, question and cheer aloud. Use the Voice toggle above if you ever need Dinomon quiet.
Your child’s name, the chosen levels, mission progress, stickers and settings are saved on this device (this iPad, tablet or computer) so they are still here next time — nothing is sent anywhere. To start completely fresh, clear this site’s website data in the browser settings.
